Tata Group is a multinational conglomerate and holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1868 by Jamshedji Tata and gained international recognition after purchasing several global companies.


Jamshedji Tata had 4 Dream Goals.


1. To Create an Iron and Steel company.
2. World-class Education Institution.
3. Hydro Electric Plan.
4. And a TATA Hotels

It was only the hotel to became reality before Jamshedji TATAs Death in 1993.
Jamshedji Tata was refused entry into British hotels because he was Indian.
Tata's hotel was the First in India to have electricity.


  • In 1907 Tata's Son Dorab established Iron and Steel Company.


  • In 1911 Indian institute of Science was established.


  • In 1915 Hydroelectric Power supply company.


  • They started 8 hour work day in 1912.


  • In 1917 the company introduced Medical benefits for employees.

  • Today Tata operates 100 companies in more than 100 countries.


  • And exports to 150 countries.


  • 103.27 billion dollar IS REVENUE in which 67 percent came outside from India.


  • Tata companies employ over 500,00 people worldwide across diverse business sectors.


  • Tata is ranked 34 among the top 500 most valuable global brands according to brand finance 2014 report.


  • TATA vehicle is the Top 5 commercial motor manufacturer in the world.


  • Communication division is among global top 10 it companies 


  • Steel division is among Top 10 steel maker.


  • In 2009 tata was rank 11th in world's most reputable companies.



What do they Do?



They have Cromā, The Indian Hotels Company, Gateway, Ginger, Tata Advanced Systems, Tata Business Support Services, Tata Chemicals, British Salt, Tata Chemicals Europe, Tata Communications, VSNL International Canada, Tata Consultancy Services, CMC, Tata Research Development and Design Centre, Tata Elxsi AND MUCH MORE.




In 2000 they bought the British company Tetley tea for 407 million dollars.

In 2008 they bought Jaguar and Landrover. When 'humiliated' Ratan Tata did 'favor' to Ford with JLR buyout!
